Welcome to the LATIN AMERICA CLIMATE SUMMIT (LACS) 2024

Join us this June 25th to 27th in beautiful Cartagena, Colombia, for Latin America and the Caribbean’s leading event on carbon markets.

As part of our Annual Regional Climate Summit Series 2024, the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), together with Asocarbono, look forward to welcoming delegates at the Centro De Convenciones Cartagena De Indias.

Held this year in collaboration with the World Bank’s Partnership for Market Implementation Facility (PMIF) World Knowledge Forum, LACS will address the following fundamental topics for the development of carbon markets in the region, such as:

  • The evolving carbon policy landscape: What is the current state of play and outlooks for carbon pricing and markets’ regulations across the region?
  • Communities at the heart of the discussion: How to ensure adequate implementation of safeguards and co-benefits?
  • Critical role of nature in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC): REDD+ projects, jurisdictional programs, and biodiversity
  • Subnational actors and leadership: Carbon market actions at state/provincial levels, and how to ensure proper synchronisation of instruments with national actions and ambition?
  • The Voluntary Carbon Market as climate policy enabler
  • Financing the just transition

The Summit will be held in-person, with simultaneous translation Spanish-Portuguese-English.
